Nearly completed composting toilet in humid tropics near Iquitos, Peru

During my volunteer time at Eco Ola I noticed that Rider’s model farm needed some important sanitary upgrades.

playa ocotal, costa rica 2014

I started a blog caled travelists_arting with the intention of creating a community for traveling artists to share inspiration and show their work. just three days of working for greenpeace in san francisco last year was enough to instill in me a lifetime of guilt for my excessive use of orangutan-murdering paper. I’m only sort-of joking. as a result I spent much of winter working on a solution: searching for somewhat clean sheets of paper, ripping out the unused sheets of old books and forming this hand-bound sketchbook that hopefully will last through much of my current adventure. I plan to forever collect clean paper so I can continue making them and generally feeling at ease about the paper I use.

playing with plants and baby animals in costa rica

Oh it is so hot down here and there is lots for me to do such as: setting up a volunteer program, learning about crazy tropical ecosystems, caring for lots of animals, planning the present and future for veggie gardens and a food forest. Check it out if you want to volunteer!
